Vegan "Cheese" Sauce with UWEN
Complexity:
INGREDIENTS
- 70 g UWEN nutritional yeast flakes
- 70 g flour (for sauce elasticity)
- 1 tsp salt (preferably sea salt)
- 140 ml cold water
- 30 g vegetable oil of your choice (such as coconut oil)
- 1 tsp mustard powder (or experiment with different spices like paprika powder, ground pepper, or garlic powder)
Step 1
In a thick-bottomed pan, combine the inactive yeast flakes, flour, and salt.
Step 2
Place the pan over medium heat and gradually pour in the cold water while continuously whisking the ingredients.
Step 3
Keep whisking until the sauce thickens. Bring it to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it cook for another minute before removing it from the heat.
Step 4
Add the vegetable oil and your chosen spices to the sauce. Whisk everything together for another minute.
Step 5
The sauce is now ready. You can use it as a condiment for your meals or as a dressing for salads.
